The Gulfport Senior Foundation proudly presents the Kid Royal Band live at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater on Saturday, July 25 at 6:00 PM. Doors open at 4:45pm so ticket holders can enjoy the Foundation’s pre-event reception.
Chris “Kid” Royal isn’t your typical local musician. By age 15, he was already performing with legendary blues artists connected to Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Albert Collins, and Muddy Waters. At just 16, he traveled to Austin, Texas, where the legendary Clifford Antone—mentor to Stevie Ray Vaughan and countless blues greats—was so impressed that he invited Chris to stay and immerse himself in the blues tradition.
Over the past 25 years, Kid Royal has performed around the world, including the Montreal Jazz Festival and Norway’s renowned Notodden Blues Festival. He has opened for Peter Frampton and Eric Burdon and shared stages with blues icons including Jeff Healey, Eric Gales, Sue Foley, and Ronnie Earl.
Today, the Kid Royal Band features some of Tampa Bay’s finest musicians, delivering a powerful blend of blues, soul, roots rock, and original music that leaves audiences energized and inspired.
